Hygiene

It is very necessary to be hygienic when it comes to you kitchen and also food maintenance to avoid making yourself ill through breeding bugs and accumulated germs in your kitchen, you need to be aware of routinely cleaning it to ensure it stays clean and sparkling. By doing this you can prevent food poisoning and other illnesses at home. There are strict laws and regulations which control the standard of food. These deal with the production, distribution and sales. Good kitchen hygiene can help prevent the spread of infectious diseases to you, your family or customers. So kindly go through this carefully.

  • Washing Hands: We must cultivate the habit of washing our hands whenever you are about to cook, and touching kitchen utensils and other kitchen duties. Because you must have done some other activities before visiting the kitchen. Such as When you visit the toilet,When you handle waste food or refuse,After combing or touching your hair,After eating, smoking, coughing or blowing your nose, things like this could cause germ infections. So avoid them.
  • Cutlery & Crockery: We all know that this are equipments that have to do with our body, like the spoon which often goes into our mouths. So we have to avoid some things in other not to get infected.  Disposable cups should be taken from the base of the tube to prevent your fingers going inside the cup,Fingers should be outside cups. Use the handles when setting cups/mugs out, Do not handle any part which will be in contact with anyone's mouth,Dishes which become cracked or chipped must be thrown out this is very important because cracked dishes could cause future injuries. I believe you dont want to bleed on your dishes. So avoid.

  • Fridge: The fridge is a place where we store all our food, and we should always make sure its clean, the inside of the fridge can be wiped down with a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water. Make sure to wipe down the outside of the fridge too, especially the handle.pull the fridge out and vacuum the cooling elements at the back. This will make your fridge more efficient at least this can be done once or twice a month. And also ensure you keep raw and ready made food seperate because sometimes the smell of raw food could affect that of the already made. So raw food should always be on the lowest shelf of the fridge.

  • Leftovers:Do not leave in the fridge in the hopes that others will use. Preferably take it home or dispose of it. It may seem wasteful, sometimes when food is been left in the in the fridge for a very long time. It becomes to soft to be eaten because it soaked water during the period when it was frozen and we all know that when ice is melted it turns into water so when frozen food is melted the ice turns to water and soaks the food.

  • Oven:Wipe out the oven with a cloth and warm water after every use. It might seem tedious, but it's important if you want to avoid a horribly dirty oven that you then have to attack with chemicals. If your oven does happen to become particularly dirty, mix a thick paste of bicoarbonate of soda, smear it all over the oven and leave it to do its stuff overnight. In the morning, get a scourer and some warm water and scrub away all the dirt with a good bit of elbow grease.

  • COOKING and REHEATING FOOD :When food is cooked from fresh, the centre of the item must reach 75oC. Re-heating food must be heated to a temperature in the centre of 82oC. A probe thermometer is available in the kitchen for this purpose and you must check that reheated food reaches this temperature. The probe must be wiped with BACTERIAL disinfectant before and after use. Hot food must be served above 63oC and can only be reheated once.

  • Sink: The sink is where our dishes are washed in,Disinfect it every week by filling it up with warm water and a small amount of bleach and scrub it either with a sponge or a  scourer.

  • WASTE IN BINS:Waste bins should taken rid of immediately their full so as to avoid smell and germ infection. If you have generated waste (and especially food waste that may begin to smell) it should be removed. Please compress the black bin liner (to reduce its volume) and knot it and remove it to an external bin or take home. Then replace with a clean bin liner from the kitchen drawer.
