The Proper Way to Successful Dieting

I have known Khadija (not real name) for about four years now, and in those four years she has been a UK size 20. While she was studying for her Master’s degree in the UK she faced a lot of stress but never lost more than a kilogram or two. She worked out, this also didn’t help much.  Curiously, I saw her again yesterday after about a year and a half and she’s a size ten! What did she do?

Directly from the horse’s mouth “I followed a diet plan given to me from the hospital because when I came back home I was going through a lot of health challenges”. She had to completely cut off most carbohydrate diet for the first two months.  Breakfast for her was a small bowl of oat with full skimmed milk and no sugar, this she had with AN APPLE. She had to drink a lot of water before the next meal which was a little of whole grain wheat meal with lots of vegetables. She had fruit salad for dinner (she still emphasised quantity).

I was going to say “I have tried that” when she said she walks vigorously every evening in the last one year she had been on the regime. I can also do that!

In conclusion, we cannot really talk about healthy eating without making an effort to reduce our carbohydrate intake, increasing our fruits and veg intake, drinking reasonable quantity of water and consistent exercise no matter the type you choose.

Time and healthy eating (repeat)

Hello once again. I told you we are going the way of healthy eating in our subsequent posts, so lets go! I was travelling between two cities two weeks ago and there were these two very interesting women in the bus with me. The younger one was complaining to the older one about her husband's 'wickedness'. The problem is that this lady (the younger) is high above the average BMI and instead of her husband being helpful enough to help her cut down the weight, he contributes to it by coming home late at night with sumptuously irresistible meals. To make matters worse if she refuses to eat he begins to sulk thinking she doesn't appreciate him.

Well, since I was pretending to be very civil I did not tell them how my own husband 'helps' in this manner also. Before I married, eating any time after seven was a taboo and I think that helped me remain a delectable size 8. You can imagine what size I am today.

Therefore, talking about healthy eating, the timing for our eating is very important as the body's metabolism might not cooperate with you at past some particular hour. There, that is our first point on healthy eating- time yourself properly. Enjoy!
