I have known Khadija (not real name) for about
four years now, and in those four years she has been a UK size 20. While she
was studying for her Master’s degree in the UK she faced a lot of stress but
never lost more than a kilogram or two. She worked out, this also didn’t help
much. Curiously, I saw her again
yesterday after about a year and a half and she’s a size ten! What did she do?
Directly from the horse’s mouth “I
followed a diet plan given to me from the hospital because when I came back
home I was going through a lot of health challenges”. She had to completely cut
off most carbohydrate diet for the first two months. Breakfast for her was a small bowl of oat
with full skimmed milk and no sugar, this she had with AN APPLE. She had to
drink a lot of water before the next meal which was a little of whole grain
wheat meal with lots of vegetables. She had fruit salad for dinner (she still
emphasised quantity).
I was going to say “I have tried
that” when she said she walks vigorously every evening in the last one year she
had been on the regime. I can also do that!
In conclusion, we cannot really
talk about healthy eating without making an effort to reduce our carbohydrate
intake, increasing our fruits and veg intake, drinking reasonable quantity of
water and consistent exercise no matter the type you choose.
